Congratulations to Dr. Jinglin Fu on his NIH Award!

The CCIB would like to congratulate Dr. Jinglin Fu for being awarded a research grant from the NIH! The Fu Lab plans to use this award to continue its research in hematopoietic stem cell (HSCs) editing and its potential to better treat blood disorders. Hematopoietic stem cells are cells that are mainly found in bone marrow and are responsible for creating new blood cells. Research has been done on these cells to develop new therapies for the treatment of blood disorders. However, the CRISPR/Cas9 system is not an effective enough system to deliver genetic material into these cells on its own. This is where the Fu Lab comes in. The Fu Lab is developing new nucleic acids nanoparticle (NANP) technology. This nanoparticle will help deliver the CRISPR/Cas9 system into the stem cells, thus allowing for more effective genome editing! If you would like to read more about this project, check out this link!
